3x3 basketball contest this weekend

Micronesia Mall partnered up with Clutch Guam for two weekends of Micronesia Mall’s indoor basketball tournament, Mall Ball 3x3. The action will take place at the Micronesia Mall center court, according to a press release from Micronesia Mall. The High School Tournament kicked off Friday and will go through Sunday. Next week will be the Middle School Tournament, which will run from Sept. 13-15. This weekend’s games continue Saturday at 11 a.m. Games for both tournaments will be played Friday, Saturday and Sunday culminating in the championship showdowns on Sunday evenings. Forty teams across the boys and girls middle school and high school divisions will play for titles, trophies, and prizes from Micronesia Mall and sponsors, according to the release. Prizes won’t be limited to the players. Mall Ball organizers have set up challenges for spectators and raffles with prizes. There will also be performances by SKIP Entertainment Company and Guam Dance Community to look forward to, according to Micronesia Mall. Mall Ball 3x3 launched in 2023, encompassing three separate tournaments over the summer for adult, middle school, and high school athletes, according to the release. The event was successful enough to warrant another tournament in April. “We are proud to bring back the Mall Ball 3x3 middle school and high school tournaments,” Anna Tenorio, marketing manager for the Micronesia Mall said in the press release. Micronesia Mall planned for the upcoming Mall Ball 3x3 with students in mind. The company said it was proud to organize the middle school and high school tournaments to kick off the new school year, and organizers aimed to celebrate athletes and their accomplishments and highlight the mall’s ongoing commitment to sports and fitness initiatives. “This event is a great opportunity to showcase the immense talent of young basketball players from across Guam – the talented athletes in our public, private and (Department of Defense Education Activity) schools,” Tenorio said. “We encourage everyone to come out and support these kids as they compete, demonstrate their skills, and most importantly, have fun. With the new school year just starting, Mall Ball ‘24 provides the perfect opportunity for students to unwind, foster camaraderie and celebrate their passion for basketball.” The Mall Ball 3x3 Middle School Tournament and High School Tournament are presented by Micronesia Mall with the help of Clutch Guam and major sponsors including MM Theatres, Denny’s Restaurant at Micronesia Mall and Tamuning, Fine Builders, Northern Construction, and Burger King Guam. Additional sponsors include Infusion Coffee & Tea, Xchanged, Bank of Guam, Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers, Graphic Center/Island Color & Copy and Coast360 Federal Credit Union. Organizers also thanked Gatorade, Automated Energy Systems, Atkins Kroll, Panda Express Taco Bell and Pizza Hut. “Families and friends, we warmly invite you to join us in cheering on these inspiring young athletes and commemorating their achievements at the Micronesia Mall center court,” Tenorio said.
