Guam wins gold at Micronesian Games

FOR the past week, the Guam men's basketball team has dominated the basketball court and was the only team to remain undefeated. The Marshall Islands team was the only one standing in Team Guam's way of winning the gold medal at the 8th Micronesian Games. When the two teams finally met Tuesday at the COM Palikir Gymnasium, Guam played like a well-oiled machine as they continued to outclass the competition, winning the gold medal game by 38 points, to make the final score 88-50. The Marshall Islands team walked away with the silver medal.
For the men's bronze medal game, Palau faced Kosrae in a back-and-forth game. After the first quarter, Palau led 17-11. But at the end of the second quarter, Kosrae fought back to take a one-point lead making, the game 32-31. Then, after three quarters, Palau retook the lead with a one-point advantage for a 53-52 game. In the end, Palau was able to hold on to win the bronze, 72-70.
