FSM: Manwaring visit Kosrae and Chuuk- February 24, 2004Manwaring held meetings of basketball people in both states and spelt out in clear terms how he saw the present situation of basketball in their state. It wasn't a pretty picture that he painted but through discussions the local basketball fraternity made a number of decisions to work on to change their direction and purpose over the next 3 - 4 months. Manwaring commented "I leave both Kosrae and Chuuk States satisfied that something will be done to reverse the decline in standard over the past few years. Obviously much of this responsiblilites lays with the State Basketball Associations". One of the highlights of the public meetings was the opening up of communication lines that had been "closed" for some time. FSM needs Kosrae and Chuuk States to become much stronger in all areas of basketball if the FSM National teams of the future are to be competitive with the best in Micronesia. The challenge is now for these two states to follow through with their plans and create some action. |
