Brothers, Ol'Aces I still undefeated

Former champion APC Brothers and defending champion Toyota Ol'Aces I are certainly playing with perfection in the 2004 BANMI Budweiser Cup after both trounced their opponents and remained in a first place tie on top of the team standings.

The Brothers picked up their fourth win in as many chances last Wednesday night, beating the Toyota Ol'Aces II behind their run-and-gun offense, 100-70.
The Ol'Aces II hung tough in the first half and trailed by just 8 points at the break, 39-47, but the Brothers kicked it into higher gear at the start of the second half and left their opponents biting the dust.
Thanks to a 24-7 run in the third quarter, the Brothers headed into the fourth and final period with a comfortable lead that just kept building.
Fred Pelisamen led the Brothers with 18 points while Oscar Ada and Tony Diaz pumped in 15 and 14 points in support. Tom Tudela also added 12 points, while Ed Diaz and Jeff Diaz finished with 11 points.
B.J. Tagabuel led the Ol'Aces II with 16 points, while Mike Olaitiman and Joe Chong contributed 12 points apiece.

In the second game, the Diablu cagers notched their third win of the season by crushing Lebwel, 119-63.
Lebwel gave Diablu a run for their money with a solid first quarter attack that left them down by just a point, 23-24, but the scoring tandem of Dave Sablan and George Masga took control and received little resistance, propelling Diablu to the win.
Sablan knocked in four triples and finished with a game-high 36 points, while Masga and Aleric Aguon sizzled with 25 and 15 points for the victors. Former National cager Ponce Rasa also chipped in with 11 points.
Randy Pelisamen paced Lebwel with 20 points, while younger brother Ben and Ryan Camacho added 14 and 13 points in a losing cause.

Last Monday, the Ol'Aces I posted another strong and balanced attack to tame the Kagman Cougars, 104-63.
The Ol'Aces took control right from the start and led 22-10 after the first quarter. The Cougars managed to match their opponents in the second period, 18-18, but weren't able to overcome a 12-point halftime deficit that increased as the second half came into play.
Veteran John Santos scored 20 points, while Edsel Mendoza, Shane Ogumoro, and Mel Tagabuel punched in 10 points apiece to lead the Ol'Aces to their fourth straight win.
Mico Aspuria led the Cougars with 13 points, while Andres "Jhun" Estolas and Jorge De Guzman added 12 and 10 points.

Earlier in the evening, the Manganitin Atdau-Sun Devils broke out of their slump and handed the Sunrisers a dark start to the week with a 64-58 victory.
The Devils built a comfortable 15-point lead as the match moved into the fourth stanza, and despite being limited to just 10 points in the final 10 minutes, still held off a late charge and picked up their first win of the year.
