The APC Brothers squad is now a game behind pacesetter Toyota Ol'Aces I after it drubbed Ol'Aces II in the nightcap of the BANMI Budweiser Cup last Wednesday at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.
The team racked up 37 points in the first quarter and scored 20 or more points in the following three to secure its 11th win in 12 games via a 95-78 thrashing of Ol'Aces II.
High-flyer Freddie Peliseman and tower Sivas Awes started the fireworks, scoring 8 and 7 points in the first as Brothers opened up a 14-point spread after the opening quarter.
Brothers' lead would balloon to 20 points after the first half, 62-42, as Ed Diaz and the whole gang joined in the scoring spree.
Tony Diaz and Rick Alegre then did the most damage in the third quarter against Ol'Aces II, as Brothers continued to pull away, 84-56. Diaz and Alegre piled up 7 and 6 points in the period.
Ol'Aces II center Ambrose Ogumoro tried to rally his charges in the final 10 minutes. The former national player pumped in 12 big points but it wasn't enough as Brothers coasted to the 27-point victory.
Peliseman topped Brothers with 23 points, while four other teammates chipped in 10 points or better.
Ogumoro paced the still winless Ol'Aces II with 21 points. The team dropped its 11th game in as many outings.

In the curtain raiser, backcourt partners Dave Sablan and Ponce Rasa combined for 48 points as Diablo waylaid Lebwel 95-78.
Diablo started on the wrong foot and trailed Lebwel 22-17 after the opening quarter. The tables were reversed in the second, as Rasa exploded for 10 points to give Diablo a 47-36 lead at the half.
Sablan would then take matters into his own hands in the final two quarters, scoring 20 points to lead Diablo to its seventh win in 11 games.
Sablan paced Diablo with 26 markers, while Rasa added 22. Ryan Camacho was the highpoint man for Lebwel with 20 points. The loss dropped Lebwel's record to 1-9.
