Garapan Rollers taught the young guns of Capitol Hill Blaze a thing or two about basketball in the resumption of the 2004 Island-wide Village Youth Basketball League Monday night.

Playing at home on the Garapan Basketball Court, the G-Rollers showed no rust from the weeklong Lenten break and routed Blaze, 52-22.

It was all over right from the opening quarter, as six different Garapan players put their names on the scoreboard and helped their team to a 14-2 spread.

G-Rollers continued their marvelous shooting, while the team from Capitol Hill couldn't buy a basket in the second half. The score at lemon time was 25-8 still in favor of last year's runner-up team.

Blaze finally got some semblance of offense working at the start of the third quarter. J.R. Kelly would fire 4 points in the team's 8-point quarter but they continued to trail the G-Rollers by a huge margin.

Dong Xingyou alone outscored Blaze in the period, as the trigger man from Garapan exploded for 10 of his 14 points in the quarter to tow G-Rollers to a 38-16 advantage going into the fourth and final period.

It was all over but the shouting as the payoff period began with the only thing unsettled between the two teams being the final score.

Boys from both squads got to pad their statistics in the final 10 minutes and Garapan won by a stretch of 30 points.

Wes Tomokane supported Xingyou's effort with 10 points of his own, while Jess Sison added 8 points for Garapan.

Desmond Abraham paced Blaze with 6 points, while Kelly and Quaid Ngirchingor each had 4 markers.

Garapan Rollers 52 - Xingyou 14, Tomakane 10, Sison 8, Basilla 4, Kaipat 4, Webb 4, Epsion 4, Pua 2, Mateo 2.

Blaze 22 - Abraham 6, Ngirchingor 4, Kelly 4, Peter 2, Luzama 2.

Scoring by quarters: 14-2, 24-8, 38-16,
