Rousing debut for GSM Ol'Aces- January 3, 2018The GSM Ol'Aces had a resounding debut in the 2017 TanHoldings Christmas Basketball Tournament after crushing IT&E, 66-35, in the opening game in the girls division yesterday at the Gillette Multipurpose Gymnasium. The GSM Ol'Aces broke away in the second half, using their height advantage and speed to get away with easy baskets en route to their 31-point winning margin The John Santos-coached GSM Ol'Aces had Twin Towers Anna Lei Santos and Cassie Camacho manning the paint and cherry-picking inside against the much smaller frontline of IT&E. The winning squad also had another tall player in Taz Deleon Guerrero, while Eleina Santos did a good quarterbacking job for the GSM Ol'Aces, feeding Alliyah Fernandez and Jaime Pangelinan for the point-blanked shots. Fernandez and Camacho finished with 14 points each, while Pangelinan and Anna Lei chipped in 12 and 10, respectively. Eleina, Kenty, and Deleon Guerrero combined for 18 more markers for the GSM Ol'Aces. Jeraldine Castillo paced IT&E with her 16 markers, 6 of them came in the last two minutes of the first half to keep her team afloat at the break, 21-28, before the GSM Ol'Aces pulled away at the resumption of the match. |
