New Caledonia cruised to the opening win at Pacific Youth Championship. Allissonne Laukau posted 15 points and 10 rebounds to pace the winning team.
New Caledonia limited Samoa to just one point in the first quarter. New Caledonia capitalized taking a 15-point lead. Samoa finished the first half with 2 scored points to face a massive 28-point deficit 2:30. They managed to improve their offence in the next two periods but could not avoid the loss at the end. Maureen Weiss connected for 10 points, while Audrey Guillou and Melissa Chaliot contributed 7 points each in the win. Janice Teo and Donna Tofilau chipped in 8 points each in the loss.
