New Caledonia- New Zealand 61:64
New Zealand tastes the second win in Victoria at the 2012 Pacific Youth Championships. They needed 64:61 win over New Caledonia for 2-0 record in Pool 2.
New Caledonia surprised the opponents with 23-16 surge in the first period and led 7 points at the halftime as both teams scored 15 points in the second frame. New Zealand replied with 18-16 in the third quarter to reduce to 5 points entering the final period. Due to 15-7 in the last stanza they even managed to win the game and remained undefeated at the tournament.
Jayden Bezzant top-scored for the winners with 19 points and Ihaka Pink netted 14. Jack Salt collected 12 points and 13 boards, while Raymond Penny posted 11. Joan Delaunay-Belleville answered with 14 points in the losing case and Loic Meztdorf had 11. Cedric Tetuanui delivered 10, whilst Nicolas Canaldo added 7.
