Fiji became the first semifinalists at 2012 Pacific Youth Championships in Australia. They overcame New Caledonia in a tough battle to reach the next stage of the tournament. Ro Naivaluvou scored 13 points and grabbed 11 boards to pace the winners.
The teams stayed tied at 6 after the opening quarter. Fiji pulled in front in a low-scoring second quarter. They accumulated a 13:8 halftime lead. The tempo increased after the big break. Fiji were able to ensure a 28:20 advantage before the fourth frame. The teams traded baskets throughout the final stanza as Fiji got away as winners at the end. Kelera Koyamainavure posted 9 points for the winning side. Allissonne Laukau answered with 7 points and 10 rebounds for New Caledonia. Audrey Guillou finished with 9 points in the loss.
