Guam edged New Caledonia to reach Final Four of the 2012 Pacific Youth Championships. The team needed a strong 88:55 win and will play tomorrow in the Semifinals.
Guam took 24-14 in the first period and added 22-13 in the second frame. Moreover they dominated the second half as well and posted another two victories. Guam won the third quarter 19-15 and finished the game with 23-13 in the last stanza.
Christian Payumo and Valiant Borja stepped up with 15 points each for the winners, while Michael Sakazaki and Maksever Kepwe delivered 12 apiece. Samuel Sotelo followed them with 10 points in a win. Cedric Tetuanui answered with 14 points in the losing effort, whilst O'Bryan Martin had 9. Nicolas Cedare-Wimian delivered 8 points in a loss.
Tomorrow Guam will take on ambitions New Zealand in the first Semifinal. New Caledonia will start their 5-8 places campaign.
