New Caledonia is the best country in the South Pacific behind Australia and New Zealand. The caledonian has won the Gold medal in the Pacific tournament in 2001, 2003 and 2005 but the youth teams hasn't been so successfull so far. New Caledonia will play Papua New Guinea and Fiji and could have locked the second spot in the pool before facing New Zealand. If the young caledonian managed to play as the same tactical level as the senior team, they would be able to claim the Bronze medal over Guam, Fiji and the french rivals Tahiti.
