No surprise, New Caledonia will field a team in the upcoming FIBA Oceania Youth Tournament for Women but despite Soana Lucet (187-C-87) and the other caledonian youngsters, a medal could be too hard to get for this team in New Zealand.

New Caledonia has been drawn in a tough group with the host nation New Zealand and the fast rising Fiji. A victory against these two team would be a wonderful achievement but New Caledonia is likely to play for the 3rd spot in the pool against American Samoa to avoid a quarterfinal clash vs Australia. If New Caledonia managed to avoid this kind of clash, the girls could play a much easier game against Tahiti, Guam or Papua New Guinea. The playoffs should be very intense with some close games for New Caledonia and the team should be ranked somewhere between the 4th and the 8th spot. Six members of this squad were already playing in last year's South Pacific Mini-Games and Soana Lucet is in great shape after winning the Territorial trophy..
