The champions of New Zealand Basketball League are again the Auckland Rebels. Nelson Giants forward/center Tony Rampton () has been named New Zealand League Most Valuable Player for 2000 season. Rampton, 1976, 211cm, out from Iowa St '99, was named Rookie of the Year in 1999, and almost cleaned up all the available Awards the current season.
In fact, Rampton has been awarded for League MVP, Leading Individual Rebounder, Most Outstanding Domestic F/C, Most Outstanding Overall F/C, Domestic Player MVP and has been named in 2000 NBL All Star Five.
The other members of the All Star Five are Purnell Perry (N.Harbour), James Hamilton (Nelson), Terrence Lewis (Wellington) and Tony Brown (Waikato).
