They prevailed against Waikato in the decisive third game of the championship series. Lindsay Tait (194-G-82) came up with 28 points and 5 assists to lead the Saints to the triumph. The Pistons shocked the hosts early in the game. They accounted for eight consecutive points to open the scoring. Waikato stayed in charge throughout the first frame as they established a 28:23 lead at the break. The Saints returned into the game in the second quarter. Lindsay Tait helped the hosts cut the deficit at 3-point mark at halftime. Nick Horvath, Lindsay Tait and Eric Devendorf (193-G-87, college: Syracuse) propelled the Saints in front in the third quarter. Wellington finished the period up by 7 points 62:55. Wellington boosted the margin to 10 points late in the fourth stanza. But Waikato kept intrigue alive. Hayden Allen (187-G-79) exploded with three trifectas in the final minutes to bring the visitors back to life. Wellington needed cold-blooded free throw execution in the dying seconds to escape with the victory. Eric Devendorf knocked down 17 points for Wellington. Erron Maxey (198-F-78, college: Providence) added 13 points for the winning side. Thomas Abercrombie (198-G/F-87, college: Washington St../a>) responded with 29 points for Waikato.
