Wellington Saints repeated as NBL champions. They stormed past Southland Sharks in the Grand Final tonight. Saints made 17-of-18 free shots (94.4 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 55.6 percentage. Saints looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Corey Webster (188-88, college: Lambuth) who helped to win the game recording 27 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. He was named the MVP. International guard Shea Ili (184-92) contributed with 31 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Australian power forward Nick Kay (206-92, college: Metro St.) answered with 14 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international center Alex Pledger (215-87, college: Belm.Abbey) added 10 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Sharks. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
