Nuggets - Jets 79-77

Otago Nuggets celebrated their first ever NBL title. They topped Manawatu Jets in the championship game tonight. The hosts trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 27-22 charge in the final quarter. Jets had a chance to win the game but Nelson Kirksey (190-G-89, college: UMKC) missed a three-pointer late in regulation. Nuggets outrebounded Jets 43-32 including 33 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Jordan Hunt (205-97, college: S.Oregon) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Kane Keil (198-97, college: Antelope Valley) contributed with 15 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Nuggets players scored in double figures. Nuggets' coach Brent Matehaere used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. International forward Thomas Vodanovich (201-94, college: JMU) replied with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds and international forward Hyrum Harris (198-96, college: Umpqua CC) added 19 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Jets.
