Blanchfield
The Zero Fees Southland Sharks have signed Townsville Crocodiles' small forward Todd Blanchfield (200-F-91) as their second import for the 2015 NZNBL season.

With Duane Bailey and Tai Wesley already on board to form a potent frontcourt, and standout import Brian Conklin not returning, Sharks coach Paul Henare tabbed the 200cm Blanchfield, who has shown his scoring ability in the ANBL over the past few seasons with the Townsville franchise.

The Mackay native has played six seasons with the Crocodiles - the same team as former Sharks' forwards Brian Conklin and Leon Henry play for - with his best season coming last season when he shot 40% from deep on his way to averaging 11 points and five rebounds per game.

Blanchfield has upped his volume this season to 13.9 points, but has been in a cold snap from beyond the arc, hitting at just 30%. However, with his career history casting him as an above average threat from three, he should fit in well alongside the talented offensive duo of Bailey and Wesley, as well as fellow import and high-usage point guard Kevin Braswell.

After Jason Cadee's success in coming from the ANBL to put up big offensive showings in the NZNBL, Blanchfield could well follow in his footsteps in what should be a good fit with Southland.

Sharks' 2015 roster so far: Shea Ili, Adrian Majstrovich, Duane Bailey, Tai Wesley, Kevin Braswell and Todd Blanchfield.
