Australian Guard Kyle Adnam (186-G-93) put on an amazing game in the last round for second-ranked Nelson G., receiving a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 2.
The 24-year old player got a double-double of 32 points and 14 assists, while his team edged out Southland S. (#3, 2-2) 103-100. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Nelson G. is placed at 2nd position in New Zealand NBL. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Nelson G. won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game Adnam had a remarkable 71.4% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Nelson G. and just after two games he already turned to be a very valuable addition to the team. Kyle Adnam has solid league stats. He is in league's top in assists (2nd best: 8.5apg) and averages impressive 66.7% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was 28-year old Australian Angus Brandt (208-C-89) of league's leader Taylor Hawks. Brandt had a very good evening with a double-double of 23 points and 14 rebounds. It was enough for Taylor Hawks to edge Taranaki MA (1-1) 90-87. A very good start of the season for his team, which won so far all 3 games without any defeat. Brandt is one of the most experienced players at Taylor Hawks and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third on the list of top players last round was international guard Shea Ili (184-G-92) of Wellington S. (#6). Ili showcased his all-around game by recording 26 points, six rebounds and seven assists in the last round. He was a key player of Wellington S., leading his team to a 108-91 easy win against SC Rangers (#8, 0-3). Wellington S. needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 1 victories and 1 lost games. Ili has a great season in New Zealand. After only 2 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 29.0ppg (best scorer) and assists with 8.5apg (best passer).
