KURAN IVERSON

American Kuran Iverson (206-F-95) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Manawatu J. and that's him to receive a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 3.
The 22-year old forward got a double-double of 36 points and ten assists, while his team edged out SC Rangers (#8, 0-4), the league's bottom-ranked team 124-121. Manawatu J. maintains the 7th position in New Zealand NBL. The season is still in it's early stage, so the team may have a chance to improve their current position in the standings. They lost 3 games and had just one victory. In the team's last game Iverson had a remarkable 62.5% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Manawatu J., being already a very valuable addition to the team. Rhode Island University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Iverson is in league's top in points (8th best: 22.5ppg), rebounds (9th best: 7.3rpg) and averages solid 1.3bpg,2.5spg and 56.8% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was another Manawatu J.'s star - 26-year old American guard Daishon Knight (185-G-91). Knight impressed basketball fans with 37 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. It was enough for Manawatu J. to edge SC Rangers (0-4) by 3 points 124-121. The season is still at the very beginning and this victory may help a lot. Let's wait for the next round. Knight is one of the most experienced players at Manawatu J. and similarly like Kuran Iverson has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 25.0ppg (#3). His other stats are also decent: 5.8rpg and 6.5apg.

The third best performed player last round was American Clay Wilson (191-G-92) of SC Rangers (#8). Wilson got into 30-points club by scoring 48 points in the last round. Despite Wilson's great performance SC Rangers lost 121-124 to Manawatu J. (#7, 1-3). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. SC Rangers can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful season losing so far all 4 games. Too bad for Wilson he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Wilson has individually a great season in New Zealand. After only 4 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 24.3ppg (5th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Lindsay Tait (190-G-82) of SC Rangers - 20 points, 10 rebounds and 14 assists
5. Kyle Adnam (186-G-93) of Nelson G. - 20 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists
6. Jamie Skeen (203-F-88) of Taylor Hawks - 29 points and 7 rebounds
7. Shea Ili (184-G-92) of Wellington S. - 26 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists
8. Winston Shepard (203-F-93) of Canterbury - 23 points, 15 rebounds and 7 assists
9. Roger Woods (196-G/F-93) of Taranaki MA - 30 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Tohi Smith-Milner (206-F/C-95) of Nelson G. - 27 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
