RAYMOND COWELS III

Canterbury Rams (NBL) landed 27-year old American swingman Raymond Cowels III (192-90, college: Santa Clara). He played most recently at Hyeres-Toulon in French NM3 league. In 34 ProA games he averaged impressive 15.1ppg, 3.5rpg, 1.2apg and 1.3spg last season. It was a very successful year in his career as he was selected to French ProA All-Star Game and League Player of the Week.
In 2014 (a year after he left the college) Cowels III was drafted by Reno Bighorns (D-League) in eighth round (119th overall).
The former Santa Clara University standoutis in his sixth season in pro basketball.
Among other achievements Cowels III's team made it to the Finnish League Semifinals in 2017. He received also Australiabasket.com All-New Zealand NBL 1st Team award in 2016.
Cowels III is a very experienced player. He has quite traveled the world as his pro career brought him to four different countries on three different continents (Europe, Australia and of course North America). Cowels III has played previously professionally in Canada (Halifax Hurricanes), Holland (Den Helder), New Zealand (Giants) and Finland (Helsinki Seagulls).

Cowels has signed as a short-term replacement for Xavier Thames (191-G-91, college: San Diego St.), who will miss the next three games while getting married.
