DAISHON KNIGHT

American Guard Daishon Knight (185-G-91) had an amazing evening in the last round for Manawatu J., receiving a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 11.
The 27-year old player had a double-double of 45 points and 13 rebounds, while his team edged out Southland S. (#3, 11-4) 94-91. Manawatu J. is placed at 7th position in New Zealand NBL. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked such low. They already lost 13 games and recorded just three victories. In the team's last game Knight had a remarkable 72.2% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at Manawatu J., through which he has constantly improved. Former Illinois State University star has very solid stats this year. Knight is league's best scorer averaging so far 29.2ppg. Knight is in league's top in assists (8th best: 4.9apg).

The second best player in last round's games was 26-year old American Orlando Coleman (196-F-92) of Southland S.. Coleman had a very good evening with a double-double of 27 points and 11 rebounds. Of course Southland S. cruised to a 112-105 relatively comfortable win over the lower-ranked Taranaki MA (#6, 3-12). Despite this victory Southland S. slide down in the standings to 3rd position. His team's 11-4 record is not bad at all. Coleman is one of the most experienced players at Southland S. and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Winston Shepard (203-F-93, agency: Slash Sports) of Canterbury (#5). Shepard showcased his all-around game by recording 18 points, eleven rebounds (!!!) and thirteen assists (!!!) in the last round. He was a key player of Canterbury, leading his team to a 106-103 win against slightly lower-ranked Manawatu J. (#7, 3-13). Canterbury needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 8 victories and 8 lost games. Shepard has a great season in New Zealand. After 16 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 8.9rpg (6th best) and assists with 7.8apg (2nd best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Kuran Iverson (206-F-95) of Manawatu J. - 23 points, 21 rebounds and 4 assists
