Taranaki Airs (NBL) added to their roster 29-year old American forward Javonte Douglas (203cm-91kg-1992, college: Montevallo). It is actually his comeback to Airs as he has played here before. Douglas moved there from Uralmash in Russian Superleague 1. In 36 games he recorded very impressive stats: 15.3ppg, 8.3rpg (#2 in the league), 2.4apg and 1.3spg last season. He helped them to win the Superleague 1 title. The last season he played also at Uralmash (Superleague 1) where in 23 games he averaged 12.7ppg, 7.0rpg (#4 in the league), 1.6apg and 1.2spg. Douglas contributed to his team making it to the Russian Superleague 1 final after they ended regular season as second best team.
He is quite experienced player. Thanks to Douglas' pro career he managed to play on three different continents (Europe, Australia and of course North America) in five different countries. Douglas has played previously professionally in Cyprus (Yakin Dogu Universitesi Lefke), Paraguay, Czech Republic (Olomoucko) and The Basketball Tournament (Seven City Royalty).
He graduated from Montevallo University in 2017 and it is his fifth season as a professional player.
