Best players of New Zealand NBL round 10- June 12, 2023
The 31-year old power forward had a double-double of 30 points and fifteen rebounds, while his team beat Bulls (#4, 8-4) 100-87. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Tuatara to jump to the first place in the New Zealand NBL. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Tuatara has a very solid 9-3 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. Loe just recently signed at Tuatara, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Saint Louis University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Loe is in league's top in points (8th best: 20.7ppg), assists (8th best: 4.5apg) and averages solid 2.7bpg,2.2spg and 62.4% FGP. The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American guard Jeremy Kendle (186-G-1988) of Sharks. Kendle impressed basketball fans with 45 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists. Bad luck as Sharks lost that game 93-103 to the lower-ranked Airs (#10, 3-8). Sharks managed to keep the same 6th spot in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 5-7 record. Kendle is one of the most experienced players at Sharks and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 24.2ppg (#1). He also recorded 9.3 assists per game. The third best performed player last round was American Ira Lee (203-F-1998) of Hawks (#7). Lee got into 30-points club by scoring 32 points in the last round. He went also for twelve rebounds . Despite Lee's great performance Hawks lost 99-100 to the higher-ranked Bulls (#4, 8-4). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Hawks not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 8 games, recording just five victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Lee could try to bring Hawks' a little bit higher in the standings. Lee has individually a great season in New Zealand. After only 8 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 8.9rpg (6th best). Other top performing players last week: 4. Callum McRae (216-C-1999) of Giants - 26 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists 5. Carlin Davison (196-G-2003) of Airs - 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists 6. Javion Blake (191-G-1997) of Jets - 22 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists 7. Jarrad Weeks (183-G-1989) of Tuatara - 23 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists 8. Danny Pippen (206-F-1997) of Jets - 31 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists 9. Daniel Fotu (203-F-1999) of Bulls - 19 points, 16 rebounds and 2 assists 10. Matur Maker (208-C-1998) of Giants - 20 points, 12 rebounds and 2 assists The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
