Horston's 33-point game gives her Hoops Agents Player of the Week award

23-year old American forward Jordan Horston (188-F-2001) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Tokomanawa Queens and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 3.
She had the game-high 33 points adding nine rebounds and four assists for Tokomanawa Q. in her team's victory, helping them to edge out Whai (#4, 1-3) 92-90. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Queens maintains the 3rd position in New Zealand Tauihi Basketball Aoteroa. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost that single game earlier this season. Tokomanawa Q. will need more victories to improve their 2-1 record. Horston turned to be Queens's top player in her first season with the team. University of Tennessee graduate has very impressive stats this year. Horston is league's best scorer averaging so far 28.0ppg. Horston is in league's top in assists (8th best: 3.5apg) and averages solid 1.5bpg.

Second best performed player last round was Iimar'I Thomas (178-G/F-2000) of top-ranked Northern Kahu. She is American swingman in her first season at N. Kahu. In the last game Thomas recorded an impressive 37 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists. Bad luck as Kahu lost that game 79-88 to Mainland P. (2-1). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Thomas is a newcomer at N. Kahu and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 21.3ppg (#3). She also registered 8.8 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to swingman Ashley Joens (183-G/F-2000) of Whai (#4). Joens got into 30-points club by scoring 32 points in the last round. She went also for five rebounds . Despite Joens' great performance the Whai lost 90-92 to #3 ranked Tokomanawa Q.. But her team cannot count on just a single shooter as she also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. Whai can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. Joens has individually a great season in New Zealand. After only 4 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 23.5ppg (2nd best).
