Brown's double-double lands her Player of the Week award

29-year old Australian forward Louise Brown (189-F-1995) had an amazing evening in the last round for second-ranked Tokomanawa Queens and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 6.
She had a double-double of 28 points and 15 rebounds, while her team edged out S. Hoiho (#5, 2-5) 86-85. Queens is placed at 2nd position in New Zealand Tauihi Basketball Aoteroa. They would have been even better if they did not have these two lost games earlier in Regular Season. Tokomanawa Q. will need more victories to improve their 4-2 record. Brown turned to be Queens's top player in her first season with the team. University of Tennessee graduate has very impressive stats this year. Brown is in league's top in points (5th best: 16.0ppg), assists (8th best: 3.5apg) and averages solid 1.2bpg and 60.0% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Iimar'I Thomas (178-G/F-2000) of top-ranked Northern Kahu. She is American swingman in her first season at N. Kahu. In the last game Thomas recorded an impressive double-double of 28 points and 11 rebounds. Bad luck as Kahu was edged by slightly lower-ranked Mainland P. (#3, 4-4) 69-66. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. N. Kahu still maintains its place as the top team in the standings, even despite this loss. Her team has currently 5-2 record. Thomas is a newcomer at N. Kahu and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 22.7ppg (#3). She also registered 8.9 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to swingman Cassandra Brown (189-G/F-1992) of Mainland Pouakai (#3). Brown scored 24 points and grabbed 14 rebounds (!!!). She was a key player of Pouakai, leading her team to a 69-66 win against #1 ranked N. Kahu. Mainland P. needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 4 victories and 4 lost games. Brown has a great season in New Zealand. After only 5 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 19.0ppg (5th best), rebounds with 8.2rpg (#1 in league) and assists with 0.6apg (8th best).
