Guam registered the initial win at the tournament. They breezed past Papua New Guinea for 1-0 record. Guam dominated from start to finish. They established a 54:20 halftime lead and never looked back en route to the win. Kathryn Castro (178-C-89) tossed in 16 points, while Mia San Nicolas (180-C-01) added 13 points for Guam. Magdalene Javapro (G-03) answered with 12 points for Papua New Guinea.

American Samoa - Tahiti 85-61
American Samoa coasted past Tahiti to open win count in Group B. American Samoa recorded a 46:26 halftime lead. They kept Tahiti at bay throughout the second half and marched to the win. Sarah Toeaina (180-G-96, college: Hawaii) notched 22 points, while Malia Nawahine (178-G-95) added 15 points for American Samoa. Alizee Lefrance (175-F-91) responded with 16 points for Tahiti.
