Tonga advanced to Pacific Games 2023 as they clinched second place at the Polynesian Games 2022. In the last game they edged American Samoa 72-47.
Tonga grabbed a 22-12 lead at the start and never looked behind. Viliami Foketi (193-F/G-1996) led the way with 17 points for the winners and Stephen Paea netted 13. Siale Bain-Vete (190-G-1981) followed them with 11 points in a win. Onosai Sofara answered with 12 points in the losing effort.
