Rivals beats Red Torch, 79-68 in IP&E NBL

Ngermid Rivals continues their winning streak this time at the expense of Ngaraard Red Torch, 79-68 Friday night in the ongoing elimination round of the 2014 IP&E National Basketball League (NBL) played at the Palau National gym. After taking a 17-14 lead, the Rivals spurted an 18-14 run in the second as they established a 32-28 advantage at the end of the first half of play. From there, the Rivals again outscored the Red Torch in the third with a 25-14 output to take a 57-42 lead. From there, the Rivals never looked back as they continued to show their scoring prowess to score the win. King Ngiraboi topscored for the Rivals with 28 as Vincent Kulas and Marvic Ngchar chipped in with identical 15 baskets, respectively. On the other hand, Anthony Rudimch led the way for the Red Torch with 24 while teammate Lester Mendoza chipped in 23 on the losing end.
In other games, Medalaii Meda Boyz won over Matakui, 76-74; Ranchers beat the Breakers, 86-66; and Surangel Kings defeated the WCC Hammers, 90-74. Games resume tonight with Ngermid Rivals versus Ngerchemai Ranchers at 7 p.m. Wednesday night games will feature Peched Raw against Breakers at 7 p.m. while Ngaraard Red Torch will face Matakui in the main game at 8:30 p.m. Thursday night will have Ngerchemai Ranchers taking on Surangel Kings at 7 p.m.
