Rivals beat Ranchers in IP&E NBL

Team Ngermid Rivals showed their scoring skills as they went on to beat the Ngerchemai Ranchers, 87-70 Friday night in the ongoing 2014 IP&E National Basketball League (NBL) at the Palau National gym. The Rivals opened the game with a 23-20 advantage in the opening quarter and then continued to mount their lead as they took a 17-13 output in the second frame of action as they closed the half with a 40-33 lead. The Rivals continued then their scoring prowess as they stood their ground to take the win with Marvic Ngchar leading the way with 39 points as teammate Uchelas Yobech chipped in 15. On the other hand, Brian Smau was the only player in the Ranchers side to finish the game in double digits with 12 markers on the losing end.
In other games, Matakui won over WCC Hammers, 81-78; and Surangel Kings bested Ngaraard Red Torch, 98-79. Games will resume tonight with Peched Raw versus Breakers at 7 p.m. as Ngaraard Red Torch will face Matakui at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday night game will have Ngerchemai Ranchers against Surangel Kings at 7 p.m. while Peched Raw takes on Medalaii Meda Boyz at 8:30 p.m. Thursday night will feature Ngermid Rivals taking on Breakers at 7 p.m. as WCC Hammers meets Medalaii Meda Boyz in the night cap at 8:30 p.m.
