Palau will host the South-Pacific Mini-Games this summer, the National Team hasn't played in a major FIBA Oceania event since 1999. It's would be interresting to see how they fare against strong teams like Fiji, Guam or New Caledonia.

The Palau Basketball Federation named a 17-players preliminary squad, this teams features the best players of the country like Yutaka Gibbons or Sunshine Soalablai. Javis Pedro is the more experienced player of this list, he should be a valuable contributor on and off the court. Kazuki Sungino would coach the men side while George Domnigo would coach the ladies.
The Women NT preliminary list features only 13 players, highlighted by Stephanie Ngirchoimei who was voted in the Micronesian Games All-Tournament squad in 2004. The Palau women NT was in Fiji in 2003 for the last South Pacific Games but remainded winless (0-6).
