Palau was a great host for the South Pacific Mini-Games. The national team finished 5th in the Men tournament with a last 74-58 victory over the Solomon islands. In the women tournament, Palau's loss to New Caledonia 47-54 prevent the team to reach the semifinals.

Men: Palau - Solomon Islands: 74-58
The men want to end their tournament with a victory. They were leading the game 38-25 at half-time and controlled the tempo in the second half. Boaz Etpison scored 17pts 6/11FG (5/9 from 3pts) 5rbs in 18min for Palau, Sunshine Soalablai netted 13pts 5/15FG in 27min and Lyndon Ngiramolau recorded 5pts 2/6FG and 15rbs in 26min.
"We are very proud of our 5th position in the South Pacific Mini Games. Today we played a more controlled game of basketball. We now know we can be a force in the basketball community and look forward to more competitions." said coach Topps Sungino "I would like to take this opportunity to thank the home crowd and all of the support we have received from our leaders. God bless us all."

Women: Palau - New Caledonia: 47-54
With the Solomon Islands' victory over Guam, the girls needed to win this game by more than 15pts to reach the semifinals. Too much to do against a strong New Caledonia team, Palau finished 5th in the women tournament. Stephanie Ngirchoimei did her best with 16pts 7/18FG 7rbs in 35min, Jaime Ngirausui added 11pts 5/14FG in 30min while Jubilee Kuartei recorded 5pts 2/10FG 10rbs in 36min. But Palau lacked depth to compete against NC, and the 185cm caledonian center Soana Lucet was deadly in the paint.
