Thanks to his american heritage, palauan point-guard Mike Williams was able to play with Guam U20 earlier this month in Auckland in the FIBA Oceania Youth Tournament. He made a pretty good tournament in a team who claimed the fifth place. Since he has played under the guamese flag, he should be inelligible to play for Palau in the future FIBA tournament but he would be available for the Palau teams for the Microgames and the South-Pacific Games.

Mike Williams was selected in this team to bring experience to a very young squad. In the pool phase, Guam was blasted by Australia 59-100 but managed to defeat American Samoa 102-83 and Tahiti 76-70. Williams managed to score 8pts (3/5FG) against the mighty australian, he recorded a tournament-high 16pts (6/13FG) against the samoan and was hold to 2pts against Tahiti. Guam secured the second place in the pool but fall to New Caledonia 63-75 in the quarterfinals. In this game Mike wasn't really good at scoring (5pts 1/6FG) but he helped his team in every other way (7rbs 5ast). In the classification games, Guam easily defeated American Samoa, again, 73-62, and Fiji, 90-68. In these two games, he averaged 5.5ppg 35.7%FG 3.0rpg and 3.0apg.
Mike Williams was a good starting guard for Guam in this tournament, he had a great three-point shooting percentage (8/17) but had more difficulties to score in the paint. All-around player, he took some rebounds and dished some great assists.

Mike's stats during the tournament:
7.2pts 37.2%FG (8/17 from 3pts) 4.3rbs 3.0ast 0.2bs 1.5st 28min 6gp
