2012 Pacific Youth Championships: Fiji beat Papua New Guinea

Fiji accounted for the second win at the Pacific Youth Championships in Australia. They defeated Papua New Guinea to clinch the second spot in Pool B. Ro Naivaluvou came up with 16 points and 8 rebounds to pace the winners. Fiji will take on New Caledonia at the quarterfinal stage. Papua New Guinea will try to challenge Australia in the playoffs.
Fiji held their opponents to 2 points in the opening quarter to take the lead. Fiji posted an 18:10 halftime advantage. They raced to a 33:18 advantage with ten minutes remaining. Fiji and Papua New Guinea exchanged baskets throughout the final term. Fiji kept the winning margin and claimed victory at the end. Tiyana Kainamoli finished with 7 points, while Georgina Balenacagi added 6 opints for Fiji. Maggie Evo'O answered with 10 points for Papua New Guinea. Marrina Boino netted 8 points in the loss.
