Day 2 of SPMG : Victories for both men’s and women’s team- July 27, 2005Papua New Guinea swept away the Marshall Islands in the first victory in the tournament. PNG took the lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Even though the Marshall Islands kept the game close, PNG step it up to another level in the fourth. PNG were shooting the ball very well, especially from the three-point range. Ben Elavo was awesome in his shooting with 26 point and 7/7 from the three-point range. Roy Gime had 15 points and 5 rebounds, Joe Elavo had 10 points and 5 rebounds while Colin Kila had 7 points and 6 steals. Papua New Guinea Women's team continued their undefeated ways, this time to host nation Palau. The PNG team had a comfortable lead in the third however the home team tried to give themselves a fighting chance in the fourth. For PNG Gamino Koroka top scored with 11 points while Louise Wallace had 10 points and 14-year-old 188cm tall Tiata Baldwin had 6 points and 4 rebounds.
