Papua New Guinea beat New Caledonia at the Melanesian Cup, 75-66. They opened the game building a narrow 13-12 lead and had a 4-point advantage at the halftime. New Caledonia replied with a 22-19 rally in the third quarter, however Papua New Guinea closed it with a final 22-14 surge.
Apia Muri (190-G-1988) stepped up with 19 points and Purari Muri (PG-1993) netted 16. Joan Delaunay-Belleville (182-PG-1994) replied with 17 points in a loss, whilst Steeven Sillant (186-G-1991) had 15.
