Samoa will host the 2007 South Paficic Games at the end of August, of course the country submitted a team in both men and women basketball tournament. The federation announced a 25-name roster which features some high-quality players like Sa Tanuvasa (193-G/F), Julius Barnes (186-G-81), Brandyn Akana, Fia Gatolai and of course the 210-cm center Iona Enosa (210-C-70) who is playing in Poland at the age of 37. Unfortunatly, most of the overseas players were unavailable like US-based John Tofi (203-F/C-84) (203-F/C-84), Chris Bartley, Rashaun Broadus (183-G-84), Zarryon Ferreti (194-G-84), Leon Henry (200-F-85), J.J. Tauai (190-G-85) (191-G-85), or the "Australians" Elijah Siulai (198-F-86), Vili Morton (203-F) and the "New Zealanders" Mason LePou (194-G-77) and Damien Ekenasio (193-G-81). With a full-strenght squad, Samoa would have been the number one favourite for the Gold however the proposed teams still have enough talent to be a legit contender for a medal.
