FIBA Oceania announced today that only four teams are expected to play in the 2007 South Pacific Games Women basketball tournament in Samoa. The host nation Samoa should field a team while Fiji and American Samoa will have to send a team too if they want to participate in the 2007 Oceania Championships against Australia and New Zealand. The fourth team could be New Caledonia or Tahiti. The final schedule of the Games should be announced in the next weeks. With only four teams, the tournament should be very intense but it would have been interesting to see the other Pacific nation play in Samoa. FIBA Oceania also announced that 8 men team are expected to play in Samoa.
