Samoa defeat PNG

Samoa men defeated PNG men by 14 points in their classification game today. The final score was 106-92. Samoa went to an early lead, ahead 28-16 at quarter time and 52-45 at half time. However, the PNG boys came back in the third quarter, ahead by 2 points at the third quarter break. The last quarter was an intense contest, but unforced errors by PNG cost them dearly, with Samoa capitalising on PNG's poor finishing off. Game high scorer was Samoa's Naotala Fesolai with 40 points, followed by Flynn Fidow with 20 and Meki Purcell on 16 points. Best in the shooting department for PNG was Apia Muri with 19, Sibona Kala on 18, Charles Parapa on 17. Samoa now contest the 5/6th placing, while PNG play off for 7/8th position.
