Pacific Championship: Australia rally past Samoa

Australia will play at the semifinal stage of the Pacific Championship. They topped Samoa in the quarterfinal clash tonight. Lauren Scherf (195-C-96) scored 16 points and grabbed 9 rebounds for the winners.
Australia opened an 18:11 lead after the first term. The gap grew deeper in the second term. Australia piled up a 43:19 halftime lead. The Aussies stayed in charge throughout the third term. Australia arrived at the final intermission up by as many as 41 points. They fired 31 points in the fourth term and sealed the winning outcome at the end. Kristy Wallace (180-G-96) netted 15 points, while Rachel Antoniadou had 14 points in the win. Penina Tufuga responded with 9 points for Samoa. Hailey Purcell (178-G/F-87, college: Tenn-Martin) chipped in 8 points in the defeat.
