Jonathon Leasi had an impressive second day in the finals with two victories to remain undefeated and qualify for the semi finals. In a 97-78 victory against the Lake Taupo Volcanoes Leasi had 8 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals and against Atami Leasi had 11 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals in a 89-61 victory.  Stan Bidois (189-G) Waitakere U23 finished the group stage without a victory to their credit. Despite Bidois 12 points and 8 rebounds in their last match they lost to Nelson Suns.  Waitakere U23 had lost a key player in the finals NZ born Samoan Leon Henry (198-F-85) as has left for the College of Southern Idaho where he will be playing in the 2005/06 season where he will join another Samoan Zarryon Fereti (194-G-84). Damien Ekenasio (187-G-81) lost to Waikato Red 92-80 however both tem qualified for the semi finals Ekenasio scored 7 points while for Waikato Red Earl Smith (193-G-73) had 15 points, Mason LePou (194-G-77) had 21 points while the Janeiro Seumanu (193-G/F-74) had 10 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists, 5 steals and 2 blocks.

Tahiti - Samoa 77-73 Tahiti lift Polynesian Cup 2018 title beating Samoa 77-73 in the Final game. Ariirimarau Meuel top-scored for the winners with 23 points to be name MVP of the tournament. Michel Audouin poured in 19, whilst Larry Teriitemataua scored 11. Sapeti Tufuga replied with 22 points while Theodore McFarland added 13 points and 15 rebounds in the loss. Tahiti, Tonga and host Samoa will represent the Polynesia region in the 2019 Pacific Games.   [read more]
Samoa book semi-final place with big win - 6 months ago
Samoa were dominant throughout their 99-63 win over American Samoa in their third game of the FIBA Men's Polynesian Cup at the N.U.S. Gym last night. Coach Aukusitino Schuster had emphasised fitness in the leadup to the tournament, and the benefits of this were on display in the win.
