Samoa claimed a convincing 74–59 victory over the Cook Islands in the FIBA Women’s U17 Oceania Cup, controlling the matchup from the opening tip. Samoa set the tone early with a strong 26–17 first quarter and extended their advantage with an 18–13 second period to take a solid lead into halftime. Although the Cook Islands showed resilience in the third quarter, Samoa maintained composure and kept their opponents at a distance. A steady 14–12 finish in the fourth quarter sealed the win, as Samoa’s consistency across all periods proved too strong for the Cook Islands to overcome. Tereise Reupena (170-SG-2008) and Adelaide Filemu (178-SF-2010) top-scored for the winners with 12 points apiece, whilst Marley Sialeipata had 11. BRIDGETTE KATA replied with 20 points in defeat. |
