FIBA Oceania's John Hoyle travelled to Samoa to see the basketball venue of the upcoming South Pacific Games basketball tournament. We will cover this tournament this summer from Apia, Samoa.

"Samoa, the site of the Pacific Games in September this year, is busy getting ready to host what should prove to be a wellorganised event. I say this as the Games venues are all completed except for the venue for the netball and volleyball events and the Games organising committee seems to have every contingency covered well in advance. Inspection of completed facilities were carried-out during my visit in March with detailed notes taken of any problems identified. Thankfully at the basketball venue there were no major issues and those minor ones noted were quickly addressed." he said
"The basketball venue is completed with a wooden floor, collapsible backboards and rings with twenty-four second clocks above the backboards. The venue is similar to the old National Gym in Suva with room for approximately 2,000 spectators. The floor area is much larger than in Suva and can accommodate two fullsize courts. The round games will be played in this configuration with a curtain suspended between the two courts, while a show court will be made for the finals with further seating increasing capacity up to 3,000 spectators"
