Papua New Guinea - Solomon Islands 65-77

Solomon Islands opened Melanesian Cup 2022 with the win over Papua New Guinea, 77-65. They grabbed an early 14-11 lead, whilst Papua New Guinea replied with a narrow 24-23 run in the second period. Both teams nailed 11 points each in the third quarter, while Solomon Islands won the game due to 29-19 surge in the last stanza.
Max Grantham top-scored for the winners with 23 points and Alex Masaea (195-F/G-1993) as well as Samson Limanikuki poured in 13 each. Coni Muri (181-PG-2001) answered with 14 points in a loss, whilst Morea Elavo (175-SG-2003) and Gabriel Elavo produced 11 each.
