Australia cruised past Tahiti at the start of the 2012 Pacific Youth Championship. The hosts looked dominant in the opener. Georgia Pineau came up with 24 points and 12 rebounds to pace the hosts.
Australia built a 24:6 lead after the first quarter. The gap grew at 44-point mark at the interval 54:10. Australia stayed comfortably in front from now on. They never looked back en route to a convincing victory. Alexandra Sharp notched 18 points and 9 rebounds, while Ella Hellessey contributed 11 points for the home team. Oceane Lefranc answered with 9 points for Tahiti. Tereia Vaiho posted 5 points in the loss.
