Excelsior wanted to win its first-ever Pacific Champions Cup at home against the 2004 New Caledonia champion, a team who last four starters since last year. Excelsior dominated SSI 98-28 to secure the trophy.

The team has been well-prepared by Brigitte Langomazino, the girls were ready to play. They used their size like FIBA Oceania All-Star Naiki Iorss (190-C-86) who chipped in with 10pts but the team also displayed a great defense and team effort. Their last goal in this game was to score 100pts and they almost managed to reach this mark. Rachelle Lucas was the game leading scorer with 18pts, she received a great support from Tahiarii Teriierooiterai (14pts), Huri (13pts) and Erana Etaeta (12pts).
This is the first Pacific trophy for Excelsior after Aorai's back-to-back in 2003 and 2004.
"This is big premiere for the team and of course we're happy" said Langomazino "The win is large and but the game wasn't our best one. Because of our great start in this game the girsl didn't play like they should. But at the end of the day, we won the trophy and that's the only thing important".
