Tahiti rolled over American Samoa 86-50 to start Polynesia Cup 2022. Tahiti won the first period 24-8 and added a 22-14 rally in the second frame. Both teams notched 16 points each in the third quarter, whilst Tahiti closed the game with a 24-12 surge.
Ariirimarau Meuel (196-G/F-1988) stepped up with 22 points and Maui Roopina (183-G-2002) delivered 13. Tematuanui Fauura (188-SF-2003) followed them with 12 points in the winning effort. Virgil Burton replied with 15 points in defeat and Onosai Sofara brought 10.
