Tonga edged Samoa 90-82 on Tonga Constitution Day at the Polynesia Games 2022. They started with an 18-13 run, but led 1 point at the halftime. Samoa took the lead later in the third, whilst Tonga needed a 32-21 surge in the last stanza to seal the win.
Viliami Foketi (193-F/G-1996) stepped up with 30 points and Marcus Alipate (182-G-1992, college: St.Thomas) produced 19. Siale Bain-Vete (190-G-1981) delivered 14 and Stephen Paea had 13. Wayne Sio (1998) answered with 18 points and 16 rebounds in the losing effort.
