In the early days of May, the first games took place at the Port Vila Stade area courts which was also the opening of the SEPSSA basketball tournament.

Results show that schools are already familiar with the sport and those with basketball courts are progressing well with their interest in this sport. Twelve schools took part in the opening of the tournament and more schools are scheduled to play next week.
SEPSSA results:
Vila East managed to out gun Ecole Publique (Centreville) in the first girls game with a flying 12-6. In the first boys match, St Jeanne d'Arc could not hold down a very formidable Fresh Water team. Fresh Water just managed to go one better than their opponents in a 6-8 match.
Anaburu school was just not ready to play Kawenu that day and had to settle for 12 points. The Kawenu kids girls were on fire, scoring 20 points. In the second boys game Vila East creamed Centreville 13-0. St Jeanne d'Arc took on Fresh Water fighting tooth and nail but just could not keep the Fresh Water girls at bay.
