Canons Men team and Sia Raga Women team were in Noumea, New Caledonia, to play a friendly tournament against some of the best caledonian teams. Next year, the youth teams will be involved in that kind of tournaments.
Men:
Canons was playing against AS6km A and B squad and Faka Ilo Kava, AS6km is the New Caledonia runner-up champion and host of the tournament. The team started with a 42-58 loss against AS6km despite a great game from Willy Berthin who scored 14pts. In the next contest, the game was much closer but the Ni-Vanuatu would lost by only a single point 72-73 vs Faka Ilo Kava. In the last pool game, Mickaƫl Whiteley scored 18pts to lead Canons over AS6km B squad to a 53-49 victory. That was a close game but Canons managed to handle to pressure in the dying minutes. In the championship game, Canons suffered an early blast from AS6km and reached half-time on a 24-47 break. The team was never able to comeback and lost the game 67-84.

Women:
There was only three teams in the women tournament: , Sia Raga, JS Vallee-du-tir and AS6km, the New Caledonia reigning champions. In the first game vs AS6km, FIBA Oceania All-Star Soana Lucet (187-C-87) was too much to handle for Sia Raga, she scored 26pts and AS6km won the game 60-50. The next day, the Ni-Vanuatu defeated Vallee-du-tir 60-48 thanks to 18pts from Mildred Izono. In the final game, AS6km took an early lead over Sia Raga and reached half-time on a 35-17. The caledonian champions won the game 71-48 on the wings of Lima Offatuku (19pts).

Both teams came back from New Caledonian with a negative record (1-3 for Canons, 1-2 for Sia Raga) but this Tour was very positive. The Ni-Vanuatu teams were able to compete against some of the best New Caledonia teams, these games proved that there is an interresting potential in Vanuatu. Hopefully one day the National Team will also be able to compete against New Caledonia, the best one in the South Pacific. Next year the youth teams should participate in such tournament and that's a really good news.
"The level of play in Vanuatu really improved since last year" said Jean-Marc Delaveuve, AS6km manager "We had a great tournament during the week, that really reinforced the bonds between our country and Vanuatu. We are already looking for next year, we wants to involved youth teams in our tournaments too".
